Detailed 1/72 scale model kit of the Supermarine Spitfire, a legendary World War II single-seat single-engine fighter of the British Royal Air Force. Originally designed by Reginald Joseph Mitchell in 1936, the Spitfire features a sleek airframe and distinctive elliptical wing, which made it aesthetically pleasing but more importantly, it gave the Spitfire exceptional aerodynamic characteristics. Fitted with a 700 horsepower Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and eight wing-mounted .303 Browning machine guns, the Spitfire was a truly deadly adversary, as Luftwaffe pilots soon discovered. This 1/72 scale model kit depicts the Mk.1 Spitfire, which was immortalized in the "Battle of Britain", with every detail faithfully recreated. Optional canopy included in the kit.
